10gen Hires Former TIBCO CFO Sydney Carey
NEW YORK—April 9, 2013—10gen, the MongoDB company, today announced the appointment of Sydney Carey as Chief Financial Officer. Formerly the CFO at TIBCO Software, a $3 billion provider of infrastructure software, Carey will lead 10gen’s finance, accounting, human resources and administration. She will be based in the company's Palo Alto office.
“Sydney brings the right experience to this critical role, and we’re excited to have her join the company at this rapid-growth stage for MongoDB and 10gen,” said Max Schireson, CEO at 10gen. “I look forward to working with Sydney as we execute on our long-term vision of providing the best database for how applications are written, scaled and managed today.”
Carey held a variety of roles during her nine years at TIBCO, most recently as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. She was promoted from Vice President of Finance to CFO in January 2009. Prior to TIBCO, Carey was CFO at Autonomic Networks (also known as Vernier Networks), a provider of network access control solutions, and before that at Pacific Broadband Communications, where she directed the company through its acquisition by Juniper Networks.
“I'm excited to join the 10gen leadership team to help build on 10gen’s success related to the MongoDB phenomenon among developers, architects and IT professionals,” said Carey. “I will be focused on helping the company address its unique opportunity as the first real mainstream challenger to Oracle and the relational model within a $30 billion market.”
Carey was named a Bay Area CFO of the Year in 2012 and serves on the board of Bazaarvoice, a leading social software and data analytics company. Carey holds a B.A. in economics from Stanford University.
