In my case, in order to solve this issue I did the entire procedure explained in this post : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/30974345/salvage-data-from-corrupted-mongodb
Meaning, I had to compile a wiretiger executable to salvage all wt files. After that and moving to last version of Mongodb 7 I executed multiple repair sessions. After a while, even if the repair never finished completely I could launch the server and use the database again.
This was a long process as the DB is bigger than 1.5 TB. This, sadly, exclude the test with the option you suggested. Thank you anyway.
