MongoDB Expands its Board of Directors with the Appointment of Software Veteran John McMahon

NEW YORK, NY and PALO ALTO, CA – October 19, 2016 – MongoDB, the database for giant ideas, today announced that John McMahon has joined the company’s Board of Directors. McMahon is one of the most respected executives in the software industry and has held executive positions at several companies, including BMC Software, BladeLogic, Ariba, Cisco (GeoTel) and Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC).

Mr. McMahon’s career in the enterprise software sector has spanned leadership roles in sales, professional services, customer service and marketing at public as well as venture-backed, high-growth software companies. Currently, McMahon serves as a board director to several enterprise software startups, including Sprinklr, Fuze, Snowflake, Cybereason, Skyport and Sumo Logic.

Previously at BMC, McMahon was responsible for $1.4B in annual revenue. McMahon joined BMC after the company acquired BladeLogic, where he was chief operating officer. He was instrumental in BladeLogic’s IPO and consistently grew revenues over 100 percent year-over-year. Prior to BladeLogic, McMahon was at Ariba, where he also grew revenues 100 percent year-over-year; GeoTel, where the growth in network call routing software sales led to an acquisition by Cisco for $2B; and PTC, where revenues increased from $1M to $1.1B in just nine years.
