FedRAMP® is a US Federal Government program that promotes the adoption of secure cloud services across the government by providing a standardized approach to security and risk assessment for cloud technologies and federal agencies.

MongoDB Atlas for Government has achieved FedRAMP® Moderate Authorization. FedRAMP Moderate Authorization is the standard for cloud computing security for controlled, unclassified information (CUI) across federal government agencies. The moderate authorization complies with the security requirements appropriate for cloud service providers (CSPs) handling government data that is not publicly available. MongoDB Atlas for Government is FedRAMP Moderate Authorization–it complies with strong security controls and requirements.

What is FedRAMP?

FedRAMP® is a U.S. Federal Government program that promotes the adoption of secure cloud services across the government by providing a standardized approach to security and risk assessment for cloud technologies and federal agencies.

In December 2022, the FedRAMP Authorization Act was enacted as part of the FY23 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This legislation establishes the FedRAMP program as the official standardized framework for evaluating and authorizing the security of cloud computing products and services that handle unclassified federal information.

What does FedRAMP Authorized mean?

FedRAMP Authorized, at the Moderate or High Impact level, is reserved for cloud service providers (CSPs) that have successfully completed the FedRAMP Authorization process. It indicates that all requirements have been met and the offering is available for agencies to use.

What is MongoDB Atlas for Government?

MongoDB Atlas for Government is a separate environment of MongoDB Atlas, dedicated to meeting the demanding security and privacy needs of the U.S. Federal Government. It is available on Amazon Web Services (AWS) US GovCloud East/West and AWS FedRAMP Moderate East/West regions and Google Cloud’s Assured Workloads.
