Here are some of our latest gatherings.
Melbourne
@Philipp_Waffler organized Melbourne MongoDB User Group meetup #5. It was held on June 18th, 2024, at the Microsoft offices. The event featured two talks: Carl Weibgen presented “Relational Migrator and Data Migrations at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank,” highlighting the DBA perspective and experiences. Philipp covered “Data Modelling & AI,” focusing on basic data modeling and its applications in GenAI use cases. The event included networking sessions, a quiz, and swag giveaways, providing a vibrant environment for MongoDB enthusiasts.
Dublin
The Dublin MongoDB User Group meetup was organized by Suhani Chawla in collaboration with Kubernetes Meetup, Dublin on June 19th, 2024, at the MongoDB office. The event featured three key talks: “Left Shifting Validation Logic in Kubernetes Operators” by Sergiusz Urbaniak and Roo Thorp from MongoDB, “Cluster-API on Full Airgapped Environment” by Hugo Prudente from Workday, and “Building Kubernetes Operators at MongoDB” by Sebastian Laskawiec from MongoDB.
Tel Aviv
The Tel Aviv MongoDB User Group, led by Ashley Majar, held its June meetup at Microsoft Reactor on June 20th, 2024. The event featured an exciting agenda. Ariel Beck from Jit presented “Tenant Isolation in MongoDB,” followed by the session “Using MongoDB in a Complex Government Project” by a representative from the Government of Israel (GOI). The evening concluded with closing words and a raffle for special swag. The event marked the beginning of a series of monthly meetups and workshops.
Austin
The Austin MongoDB User Group, led by Matt Griffith, held an engaging meetup on June 25th, 2024, at the MongoDB Office. The event kicked off with a welcome meet-and-greet over pizza and beer. @Alejandro_Mancilla and Sahib Chandnani introduced attendees to recent MongoDB announcements from the .local events in New York and Mexico City. Matt then led a session on building an AI chatbot using OpenAI and MongoDB Vector Search. The evening wrapped up with trivia, swag giveaways, and networking opportunities.
Chicago
The Chicago MongoDB User Group, led by @bein, hosted an event on June 25th, 2024. Daniel (Xingyue) Li presented on using MongoDB bulk operations in Spring Data MongoDB for enhanced application performance, followed by a Q&A session with Vishal Parikh. The event concluded with networking, trivia, and closing remarks. Thanks to Grainger for hosting, Vishal Parikh and Daniel (Xingyue) Li for their presentations, and Reshma Thumma for their support!
Berlin
The Berlin MongoDB User Group, hosted by Studio 3T on June 27th, featured an evening of sessions. @Philipp_Weyer from MongoDB explored advanced features and Gen AI capabilities, Rico Dittrich from Studio 3T delved into performance tuning, and Sergiusz Urbaniak from MongoDB discussed building a self-service DBaaS. The event included practical demonstrations, networking opportunities, and in-depth discussions, providing valuable knowledge for both beginners and experienced MongoDB users. Belgrade
The Belgrade MongoDB User Group, led by @NeNaD, held its inaugural meetup on June 27th at CDT Hub. The event featured a comprehensive introduction to MongoDB and MongoDB Atlas, covering the differences between relational and non-relational databases, schema design, and key features of MongoDB’s architecture. Attendees had the opportunity to network, enjoy food, and receive swag.
Lebanon
The Lebanon MongoDB User Group, led by @eliehannouch and @Nisrine_bg, hosted an informative online masterclass on June 29th, 2024, via Google Meet. The session focused on the MongoDB Relational Migrator, teaching attendees how to seamlessly transition from legacy relational databases to MongoDB’s developer data platform. Key highlights included schema analysis, schema recommendations, data migration, and application code generation. The event provided practical insights into modernizing data architecture, minimizing migration risks, and optimizing MongoDB performance.
Kuala Lumpur
The fifth MongoDB User Group KL Meetup, organized by @Lai_Kai_Yong, took place on June 13th, 2024, at AWS Malaysia. Attendees enjoyed a workshop by Lai Kai Yong from Farmz Asia on creating compelling search experiences with MongoDB Atlas Search and Vector Search. The evening included networking over food, swag giveaways, and further discussions.
Montreal
The Montréal MongoDB User Group, led by @Nestor_Daza, hosted a meetup in collaboration with Typescript Community on July 4th, 2024. The event featured sessions on MongoDB Atlas Vector Search and a demo on implementing a sample app in TypeScript. @Benoit_Lacharite, a Solutions Architect at MongoDB, delivered insightful presentations. Attendees enjoyed food, networking, and engaging discussions, concluding with a Q&A session and swag giveaways. Special thanks to the local TypeScript community group for their collaboration.
Toronto
The Toronto MongoDB User Group, led by @chris, hosted an engaging meetup on July 4th, 2024, at Microsoft’s Canadian Headquarters. The event featured sessions on using MongoDB indexes for performance improvement and schema management for MongoDB, presented by Leonardo Gomes and Andrzej Taramina. Attendees enjoyed supper, networking opportunities, and interactive Q&A sessions.
Chennai
The Chennai MongoDB User Group, led by Rishi, Jeyaraj, and Ijas hosted a meetup on July 13th, 2024, at Zoominfo Office. The event featured hands-on demos and insights into Vector Search and AI Agents. Karthik Ponnappan from ZoomInfo kicked off the day with strategies for capitalizing on Gen AI. @Rishi_Agrawal led a workshop on Atlas and Vector Search.
