The first-ever Dubai MongoDB User Group Meetup, hosted by @Ahmed_Fawzi on September 18th, 2024, was a resounding success. Held at Business Bay, the event showcased strong local interest in MongoDB. Highlights included insightful talks by @Fuat_Sungur on MongoDB 8.0, Ahmed Fawzi on semantic image search, and @Waleed_Mowafy on app modernization.
The Rome MongoDB User Group’s Meetup was a fantastic gathering on September 19th, 2024, at Sourcesense S.p.A. The event, hosted by Cesare, featured talks from special guest speakers @Mario_Noioso1 and Alessandro Miliucci. Attendees were treated to valuable discussions, networking opportunities, and a fun atmosphere with pizza, drinks, and swag giveaways.
The MUG KL Meetup on September 19th, 2024, at Moneylion Malaysia, featured talks by Ang Weoy Yang from Coingecko on improving the performance of the $sort operation, followed by Syed Salman Ali Kazmi from Teleport, who discussed the advantages and disadvantages of migrating to MongoDB. Attendees enjoyed networking over food and wrapped up the evening with a fun swag giveaway session, concluding with more networking and community engagement.
The Thailand MongoDB User Group held a vibrant MongoDB.local Bangkok After Party on September 26th, 2024, at Rungrojthanakul in Bangkok. Hosted by @Kanin_Kearpimy and @Piti.Champeethong, the event recapped MongoDB’s latest advancements, including MongoDB 8.0, Vector Search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with MongoDB Atlas. With over 50 attendees, the meetup provided exciting insights into multimodal RAG for images and text.
The Milan MongoDB Meetup took place on October 1st, 2024, at Neosperience in Milan, organized by @Mario_Veltini alongside Serverless Italy. The evening featured @Luca_Bianchi, CTO of Neosperience, discussing the integration of MongoDB Atlas serverless and Lambda functions, followed by a presentation on gen AI applications. @Roberto_Delrosso1 from MongoDB provided additional insights.
On October 5, 2024, the Hyderabad MongoDB User Group hosted a meetup at T-Hub Phase 2 Hyderabad, led by @CHANDA_RAJ_KUMAR2 and @Jayant_Acharya. Ravinder Karampuri delivered a session on MongoDB Atlas Online Archive, while Saqib Subhan and Manish Sharma from Contentstack shared best practices on building for scale.
On October 9th, 2024, the New York MongoDB User Group hosted an exciting event focused on the intersection of gen AI and MongoDB with Microsoft Azure. Hosted by @Yashwanth_Alapati, the event featured Deven Wagle (Principal Cloud Architect, Microsoft) and Paul Leury (Senior Solutions Architect, MongoDB). They delivered insights into generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and the MongoDB-Azure partnership. Attendees enjoyed a demo on productivity tools, followed by networking and a quiz session. Special thanks to Microsoft for hosting at Times Square!
On October 15th, 2024, the Google Cloud GenAI and MongoDB event took place at Google Italy in Milan. Hosted by Mario Veltini and Luca Bianchi, the event was a collaboration between GDG Milano & GenAI Italy. Davide Malagoli from Google Cloud kicked things off with a talk on bringing gen AI pilots to production, followed by a demo on building with RAG in 5 minutes. Luca Bianchi, CTO of Neosperience, shared insights on leveraging MongoDB Vector Store and Gemini Embeddings in RAG architectures. The event concluded with a lively Q&A, networking session, and a great dinner!
The Stockholm MongoDB User Group held an engaging in-person event on October 16th, 2024, at Capgemini’s office, showcasing key innovations around MongoDB and AI. The event featured talks like Lorenzo Murrocu’s presentation on SaaS success and Jerome Jadoulle’s insights into self-service infrastructure delivery. @Pierre_Petersson, Advisory Solutions Architect at MongoDB, demonstrated real-time automation for insurance claims using MongoDB Atlas and generative AI, highlighting retrieval-augmented generation and AI-embedded applications for real-time decisions.
The Sydney MongoDB User Group’s October 2024 event, hosted by Carlos Cortez at the MongoDB Sydney office, featured two exciting talks. The first, “More Room for Bigger Ideas,” was presented by MongoDB Storage Engineers Etienne Petrel and Sean Watt, who introduced background compaction in MongoDB 8.0—a new feature that reclaims space automatically. The second talk by Dominick Ng, Director of Engineering at Relevance AI, explored how the company leverages MongoDB and Vector Search capabilities to lead in the AI workforce.
