Can MongoDB deployments be automated to run on IBM LinuxONE machines? In this session you will hear about the problems we were able to solve along with the solution that turned into an IBM Redbook making the code available to everyone. I will also touch on other mainframe services offered by SNA that continue to help make these systems more open and available.

Mainframes conjure up pictures of punch card machines and green screen terminals, but they really are very modern (huge) machines with awesome CPU core count, net connectivity, storage capacity, speed, security, serviceability, and reliability. LinuxONE is an IBM z-architecture mainframe running a hypervisor (typically KVM) that can field an unbelievable number of virtual Linux s390 instances and/or containers. You can try out a LinuxONE free virtual server instance for 120 days at the LinuxONE Community Cloud.
Woh what a journey.
I was leading some parts of the MongoDB (and others) workload testing, spinning up hundreds of VMs with MongoDB in parallel running excessive loads. Amazing power.
