mongodb to powerbi

Hi,
I am running MongoDB server (version 7.0.8) on my laptop. Trying to connect PowerBI Desktop running on the same laptop to MongoDB. PowerBI Desktop (Version: 2.128.751.0 64-bit (April 2024)).

The error I am facing is below.

We encountered an error while trying to connect
Details: Data source error occurred
SQLSTATE: 01000
NativeError: 444
Error message: ODBC: ERROR [01000] The driver returned invalid (or failed to return) SQL_DRIVER_ODBC_VER:03.80

What needs to be done to solve this error and/or to be able to connect to MongoDB from PowerBI?

Hi @nate_brown and welcome to the community. If you are running the on-premise version of MongoDB (which I think is what you saying “I am running MongoDB server…on my laptop”, you will need to install the BI Connector (on-prem) and connect with the ODBC option within Power BI Desktop.

Please let me know if this is the connector you tried (BI Connector). I suspect you are attempting to use the Atlas SQL Interface connector and our Atlas SQL custom/certified Power BI Connector. This is only for our cloud hosted db.
