Runaway memory usage: MongoDB on Ubuntu 20.04 on zVM (LinuxOne, Rockhopper II)

Cross posting, trying to get some resolution for friends on this.

Root of the problem, friends have a Banking application and their MongoDB deployed onto the same Ubuntu image running on a LinuxONE platform, App/DB is co located for performance.
The DB starts small and then just gobbles up memory up to nearly all allocated to the zVM (1TB), platform was restarted last week, sitting at north of 700GB on Wednesday already).

hi guys

Had 2 scary responses from the Mongo engineer, please comment.
Reminder, this is Ubuntu 20.04 on zVM, this far we know it’s totally supported as IBM won’t allow any unsupported configurations on their ZSystems. The physical machine is a IBM LinuzONE Rockhopper II which is based around the Z14 architecture.

This contradicts the Mongo engineers statement a bit… MongoDB on IBM Z and LinuxONE

This (below) one at least implies that the commercial/Enterprise version is supported… sort of.

Unfortunately, no current version of MongoDB (community or enterprise) is supported on Ubuntu 20.04 with the s390x architecture at this time. Additionally, we have stopped releasing Community versions of MongoDB on s390x as of 6.0; newer releases are currently [only available for enterprise binaries.|https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual/administration/production-notes/#platform-support-matrix ].
Given that this is unsupported, investigating this as a server bug is not within our means at this time (and likely wouldn’t yield a fix). For this issue we’d like to encourage you to start by asking our community for help by posting on the [MongoDB Developer Community Forums|https://www.mongodb.com/community/forums].
If the discussion there leads you to suspect a bug in the MongoDB server on a supported version, then we’d want to investigate it as a possible bug here in the SERVER project.

and (they seem to ave 2 JIRA tickets open).
