Storage Release in MongoDB Atlas in Local Database

Hello MongoDB Community,

I hope you’re all doing well. I am currently facing a storage-related challenge in my MongoDB Atlas dedicated cluster, and I’d appreciate any insights or guidance you can provide.

Overview:

Local Database Size: 600 GB

Collection Sizes:
clustermanager: 20.48 KB
oplog.rs: 8.50 GB
replset.election: 20.48 KB
replset.initialSyncId: 20.48 KB
replset.minvalid: 20.48 KB
replset.oplogTruncateAfterPoint: 20.48 KB
startup_log: 57.34 KB

I’m looking to release storage in Local Database.

Any advice, tips, or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

MongoDB Version: 6.0.9

Solution is to compact on oplog collection it release space and it worked for me

Could you please elaborate a bit more on your solution? How does one achieve that? What commands do I need to execute in the terminal, assuming it’s done that way? Is it something that one has to do regularly? If so, what interval would you recommend?

Done compact command

After deletion the storage was not empty so runed following command
