THEIR CHALLENGE
Digitizing the construction industry
Business-to-business (B2B) digital services company iConstruye uses a full suite of MongoDB offerings to develop solutions that serve the construction industry. The company’s products streamline supply chain operations, from requesting contract services all the way to making payments. Since its founding in 2000, iConstruye has expanded from its headquarters in Chile to Peru, Colombia, and Mexico. In 2017, the company started using MongoDB Community Edition, a self-managed document database, to meet its database needs. Since then, MongoDB’s document model has helped the company simplify development and boost developer productivity.
In 2019, the company shifted focus toward generating differential value in its products. To support this goal, iConstruye wanted to remove the additional burden of synchronizing a database with a search engine, so it migrated to MongoDB Atlas, a fully managed solution, and began using MongoDB Atlas Search and MongoDB Atlas Vector Search. iConstruye now makes extensive use of these advanced search capabilities to develop cutting-edge solutions for its customers. “MongoDB helps customers like us gain new capabilities as technology evolves,” said Matías Vázquez, vice president of engineering at iConstruye. “We trust MongoDB architecture, so we don’t have to find and vet external providers to access the latest features and advances.”

OUR SOLUTION
Using MongoDB Atlas to enhance operations for iConstruye
Prior to using MongoDB Atlas, iConstruye had a complex architecture that required several services acting as extract, transform, and load (ETL) layers to connect its database with its search engine. Adopting Atlas Search and Vector Search helped the company greatly simplify its search architecture. “By removing that complexity, our architecture became more efficient and resilient, which enhanced the value we deliver to our clients,” said Vázquez.
Because Vector Search holds the full context of iConstruye’s source code, the company also made its code reviews more complete, secure, and error free. The addition of Vector Search also helped the company streamline internal processes and enabled the development of generative AI agents. The addition of these agents improved time to market by 20% and increased the company’s deployment frequency rate by 25%. “With MongoDB, we can ride the wave of new technologies like generative AI,” said Vázquez.
